Hi, welcome to PAPER BAG. Good, you're reading the rules. As the nice admin I am this is my warning to you. PAPER BAG defies the line of comfort. We are a mature roleplay and YES there will be topics possibly mentioned in RPs that might be a bit explicite. It is up to you whether you join or not - we are not responsible for you, your parents are. SIGNING UP
Please sign up with your character's first name. If someone else is also using that first name, go on and sign up with your character's first AND last name, or just last name. It won't kill you. Initials work, too.
If you use any numbers or 'iluvevampires' or 'vampgurl' silliness when you join, your account will be deleted. It's annoying and retarded.
Also, once you sign up, please head over to your profile and change your name [eg: mollyclarke] so that it has a first and last name, with a period, all lowercase [eg: molly clarke.]. If you submit your character sheet before fixing this, you might be denied.
AS A MEMBER
Once you join, please note that this site in unrated so there will be cursing, and violence, among other things. HOWEVER, despite this luxery, I am going to ask you to mark your posts with an [M] before the thread name if there will be an excessive amount of crude dialogue, ect. For more information on tagging, see this thread here.
Be active. Do not join, make a character sheet, get accepted, and just leave. Seriously. It's not cool, it's not fun for us, and it's just a waste of time. If you do end up doing this your account will be banned, 'nuff said. If you ARE going to be disappearing and you know you'll be away, post in the vacation board.
The secret c o d e for the site is below, but you have to highlight the line to see it. Teehee. C o d e: Tany is badass.
CHARACTERS
One character per account. I see sites that allow as many as you want on one account and I do not see how that is possible- it seems like too much work to keep up. It won't kill you to switch accounts for each character, I promise.
You can make as many characters as you want.
When making a character, give them faults, give them weaknesses, make them ugly. Not purely ugly, but not amazingly beautiful. Give them scars, blemishes, split ends, a large nose, big feet - SOMETHING that is not usually depicted as 'beautiful' in today's world. In short terms, I do not want to see any Mary-Sues, Gary-Stus, or any other form of the sort..
IMAGES
All avatars are, by default, 100x100.
Signatures will probably stretch the page a litte, but no longer than 400, because the board width in general is already 500, so they would stretch. As for height, try not to exceed 200. If they get too large people on dial-up will have loading problems and that's not cool.
ROLEPLAYING
This is an advanced rpg. We want all posts to be at least three-four+ paragraphs. It's not hard, really. Paragraphs are only five-six+ sentences long. Inspire yourself and go! I understand writer's block, but seriously, writer's block is never THAT bad. Which means if you are not an advanced RPer 3/4ths of the time we do not want you here.
Posting format is third person, past tense.
Do not place * or - around your actions or spoken words. This isn't a chat-roleplay, this is a forum roleplay. We RP as if we are writing a book. Got it?
Which means that you don't bold your dialogue. Seriously. It's ugly. Same goes with annoying colors. Bright colors, like neons and yellow, just don't work on white or black.
Spell check is nice.
No God-moding. I hope that you know what this is given that you're joining an advanced RPG. If you don't, I don't want you here, simple as that. I know, mean, but whatever. It's something all RPers should know once they reach the intermediate level, let alone the advanced level.
DISCLAIMER
Most of the information in other threads have been given to us via Wikipedia - so if something's wrong, we don't care, we know. Also, all information from Wikipedia, along with the titles of our RP boards, was originally created from the brilliant mind of Laura K. Hamilton, thus, all rights belong to her. Don't worry, though, just because we use ideas and information from the Anita Blake series does not mean this is an Anita Blake based site.
